From Urban Garden to Urban Network: Introducing the Jocondo Network

Every Jocondo unit is designed to grow autonomously, monitor its surrounding environment, and communicate with other devices within the network.

07 June 2026
For years, we have imagined greener, more sustainable, and more participatory cities.
We envisioned balconies, rooftops, courtyards, and urban spaces transformed into small ecosystems capable of producing food, improving air quality, and reconnecting people with nature.
Today, that vision takes a major step forward.
Jocondo has been granted an Italian patent for the technology that makes it possible to create the world's first network dedicated to connected urban horticulture.
We are not talking about a smart planter.
We are talking about a network.
When a Garden Becomes a Node
Every Jocondo unit is designed to grow autonomously, monitor its surrounding environment, and communicate with other devices within the network.
Thanks to LoRa (Long Range) technology, each urban garden can transmit data over long distances while consuming extremely low amounts of energy.
This means that rooftops, balconies, schools, businesses, and public spaces can all become part of a distributed ecosystem capable of growing and evolving over time.
Every new Jocondo installation is not simply another urban garden.
It is a new node in the network.
Technology Designed for the Cities of Tomorrow
Our choice of LoRa technology was no coincidence.
Unlike traditional Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connections, LoRa offers unique advantages for a project designed to scale across cities worldwide.
Deployable Anywhere
Jocondo does not depend on a home internet connection.
It can be installed virtually anywhere: on a rooftop, in a shared garden, at a school, in an office, or within a public space.
Ultra-Low Power Consumption
LoRa communication requires minimal energy.
This enables the development of increasingly autonomous and sustainable systems.
In fact, we are currently working on integrating photovoltaic panels that will allow future generations of Jocondo units to generate the energy required for their operation independently.
Unlimited Scalability
Every new installation contributes to the growth of the network.
As the community expands, so does the value of the entire ecosystem.
It is the same principle that made the Internet and social networks possible—this time applied to urban agriculture.
A Network That Generates Knowledge
Jocondo units integrate advanced environmental sensors capable of collecting valuable cultivation and urban environmental data.
Soil moisture, air temperature, air quality, CO₂ levels, atmospheric pressure, and water availability can all be monitored in real time.
As the network grows, this data becomes an increasingly valuable resource for understanding urban environments and improving sustainable growing practices.
A Global Community of Urban Growers
But the real innovation is not technological.
It is social.
Jocondo was created with the ambition of building the world's largest community of connected urban growers.
A network of people who share the same vision: bringing nature back into cities while actively contributing to environmental sustainability.
Through the Jocondo platform, users will be able to share experiences, compare results, participate in contests, earn rewards, collaborate on collective projects, and contribute to the growth of a global network centered around nature and community.
Beyond the Product
Many companies build devices.
We are building an ecosystem.
A distributed infrastructure that transforms every urban garden into a connection point between technology, the environment, and people.
The patent we have obtained marks an important milestone in this journey, but it is only the beginning.
Our vision is simple.
To transform thousands of independent urban gardens into an intelligent network capable of improving quality of life in cities, promoting biodiversity, collecting environmental data, and connecting people who share the same passion.
Because the cities of the future will not only be smart.
They will be green.
And they will be connected.
